Hi 6string, thanks for the quick response. I read that article from Apple before but I don't think it pertains to my Mac.

Well, either way your GPU certainly looks like it's defective. Why don't you give Apple a call anyway? You've nothing to lose. If the nVidia problem doesn't pertain to you, they'll say so.

If you have to pay for repairs (replacing the logic board) it may get very expensive. Since the GPU is soldered (surface mounted) to the main board, it means the entire board has to be changed out.

Bad video card

Yeah, I thought It looked like the on board graphics. I will contact Apple and ask but I have a feeling I'll end up replacing the motherboard myself.
