installing PSP software 6.20 help

I have a PSP 3002 Mystic Silver and the current sofware I have is 5.55, I downloaded the eboot-1.bpb from the website (on my mac) and replaced it with the current on on my PSP (using a USB to MINI cord) but What next?

I've always had some kind of issue doing the updates this way.

Just do the Network Update from the then menu (Internet IIRC), and do it that way, just make sure you have enough free space on your memory card so it can download to it.

The only problem is I can't connect to my wireless router, when connecting it says "The attempt to obtain the IP address failed" or something like that. I think I need to go to my setup wizard and allow the MAC/IP address. Only problem is, when I go there, it asks me to set some options, and then after that the pages just goes white (after i fill in the options and click finish) and the little blue/grey/black loading thing in safari just site there but it stops second disappears, then reappears, and does the whole process.
