I have my latest gen MBP hooked up to my samsung XL2370 monitor. Every time I put the MBP to sleep and wake back up the log in screen is always on the Samsung instead of MBP. When i put to sleep i have both up on the external i have ical, itunes, and mail and the laptop is used for everything else. When i put to sleep turn the monitor off for the night and close the lid, when i re-awake it's like the computer doesn't detect it's own monitor bc I have to go to settings-display-detect monitors...both turn blue for a split second then i have to re-organize everything.

Does anyone know y this is going on. I put it to sleep bc a friend told me its bad to leave the comp running all the time and I also don't want the lid open all night.

What you're experiencing is normal. Mine does the exact same thing.

The only way to change that is to reboot without the Samsung hooked up with just the display from your MBP activated. Since I use my external Samsung display all the time at home, it's not a big deal for me but I can understand that it would be annoying in certain situations.

Regards.

I also use my display all the time unless i take the MBP on travel. So rebooting while its disconnected then plug in should fix this.
