I changed the settings on my energy saver to to not sleep, yet after a certain period of time, the computer still attempts to shut down. Am I missing changing some other setting?

Did you click the Schedule... button in the Energy Saver pane?
You use "sleep" and "shut down" as if they are interchangeable terms. They aren't.
Attempts to shut down... but fails to do so? What does that mean?
