I dont know what I did i think i was messing with the option and shift keys and all of a sudden my keyboard doesnt work anymore keys like shift, command, option, control, tab, and escape work but keys to type with dont work help would be greatly appreciated

Did you try rebooting the machine? Also which Mac is this and which version of OSX?

I no matter what I have done have never seen what you are experiencing happen.
