I have been using a Seagate FreeAgent desktop drive, USB, with my Macbook, Snow Leopard, for over a year.
In a moment of stupidity I unplugged the drive without ejecting it.
Now the Mac doesn't see the drive at all. Disk Utility and System Profiler can not detect it.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks.

If there's no data on the drive or data that you no longer need, then do as Tattooed suggests. However, if you have data (photos, music, etc.) that you would like to recover, do not attempt a format on the drive as that will destroy everything.

There are several good programs you can try that may be able to recover the files from the drive. Let us know if you want to do that.

Regards.
