Time Machine has the date wrong

I just started using Time Machine after three months and today it says "Next backup: 02/05/2010" and then it cuts off. Today's 2/18. How do I fix this?

Does it still do that after you choose Back Up Now?

Yes. The drive is Mac formatted if that helps.

Here's what it looks like:

By the way, the drive was installed and first backed up on 2/17/10 so I'm not sure where it's getting 2/5/10 from.

try this:

Open Terminal and copy/paste this line at the prompt:

rm ~/library/preferences/.Global* ~/library/preferences/byhost/.Global*

Hit Enter and logout then login on your computer. Open Time Machine and it should be fixed.
