Hello all, I have recently purchased a copy of snow leopard from apple online.

The problem I have is that my dvd drive on my imac has stopped recognising dvd's. Is their any way I can rip the information from the OS disk on my laptop to then transfer onto my imac via usb?

That particular DVD can not be ripped like you would an ordinary video or music DVD and is very difficult to copy because it's been mastered in two different formats.

Your best solution would be either to replace the superdrive on the iMac or buy an external DVD drive and install Snow Leopard that way.

Also - you might try cleaning the drive on your iMac. Sometimes the lens becomes dirty and won't recognize when media is inserted.

Regards.

Does your notebook have 10.6 already? If it does, insert your new OS X disc and head to Applications / Utilities / Remote Install Mac OS X.
