Forcing a display resolution

Is it possible to force OS X (10.4.1) to use a display resolution, even if it doesn't show up in the list offered by System Preferences' Displays pane? And, if I screw up and set a resolution too high, is it possible to easily recover?

I have a Mac-flashed Radeon 9250 128 MB connected to a KVM that is in turn connected to a 17" CRT. With my original Rage 128, it properly detected that I can run at 1600 x 1200. With the Radeon, it only thinks I can go up to 1600 x 900, when obviously the hardware is capable of far more.

Flashing your 9250

Hi,

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to whats inside a mac, but have embarked on resurecting an G4 Digital Audio 466 that was due for the scrap heap at my work. I have an ATI 9250 graphics card that I'd like to use in it, but I don't know the first thing about flashing the card! Could you offer any advise?

Cheers
