Hi,

I have a Macbook 13.3".
Version: 1,1.
HD: 60GB
Memory: 2GB

I want to upgrade my hard drive to 200GB. However I know that you must reinstall using the correct Macbook reinstall disc. From my research I found that I need OS 10.4.6. However I only have a Macbook reinstall disc 10.4.8.

Is there any way around this? I dont want to spend $50 on a set of 10.4.6 discs.

Thanks very much.
David

Don't know where you got 10.4.6.

What you need is either the grey disc set that came with your computer or a black retail copy of OS X.

Any grey colored disc that came with some model other than your model will not work.

If you have lost your original discs, you have 2 options, call Apple for a replacement set or purchase a retail copy of tiger, leopard or snow leopard.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
One of these days I'll try SuperDuper....but I've always used CCC and had no probs with it.
It's that "while I'm on a good wicket" thing :)

You can not run OS9 on any Intel Mac. Sorry. Where is the DVD that came with your macbook?

You can not run any older version in fact on your Macbook than an Intel version of 10.4 that came with your Mac or an identical specked Macbook. No other version will run or install.

You need either your 10.4 DVD that came with that macbook or a Retail full install of 10.4 or 10.5.

What?
If this is what you are thinking, the software updates (not upgrades) run through the OS you are using.... ie 10.4.1, 10.4.2, etc, not 10.4.8, 10.5.0

Do you have the install disc that came with your mac?
You either need those, or the retail version (black coloured disc), or to take the cloning avenue.
