• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I'm new at Toast -- I've used Roxio software for Windows before, but I'm not quite sure how to go about a few things with Toast.

First, how can I tell if a video (.avi) is in PAL or NTSC format? Toast gives me a warning that one or more of my .avi files are in PAL format and might not play on some DVD players. How can I tell which one it is so I can convert it with VisualHub?

Secondly, I'm running into a little problem -- I have an .avi that is approximately 1.5 hours long, and when I try to add it to Toast (not drag and drop, but add using the add button), it only adds about 5 seconds of the video. This happens no matter how much free space I have left on my blank DVD. Any ideas why and how to fix this? :(

Thanks a bunch!
