Customers who purchased Mac OSX 10.2 or a new system running it on or after 10/8 can upgrade for a s&h fee of $19.95 so I would say no since today is 10/8

Um how about Apple....seems pretty reliable to me. In case you still don't believe it, try visiting Apple.com before you cast doubt ;)

I'll have to wait to read the reviews and reports. There is a little thing on the Apple site...at the very bottom of the order page that states...."UPGRADE PROCESSOR CARDS NOT SUPPORTED".

Though, I am exited about the release of PANTHER.....I have to wait and see if this statement is true or not. My PANTHER UPGRADE may have to wait until Apple makes some lower end DUAL G5s....like a 1.6ghz DUAL.

Here is MacMinute's take on it!

Mac OS X 'Panther' coming October 24th
October 8, 2003 - 08:33 EDT Apple today announced that Mac OS X version 10.3 "Panther," the next major release of the company's operating system, will be available on Friday, October 24, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Apple says Panther "delivers more than 150 breakthrough new features including a completely new Finder that provides one-click access to a user's favorite files and folders; Expose, a revolutionary new way to instantly see all open windows at once; and iChat AV, a complete desktop video conferencing solution for business, education and consumers." The company also announced that Mac OS X Server "Panther" would be released at the same time.

My Comments: This is exciting.. comes at a bad time, so I guess I might have to wait for the update.. if there is one :)

I got the G5, no worries :D

Hey, okay I'm confused, I can get it for $19.95 since I baught the G5, but what is this "update" thing? That's all free right? $19.95 will be the only money I will have to pay for Panther, ever..? Right?
