vmware fusion. Winxp virtual machine help.

I've been running a winxp vm on a vmware fusion 2.0.5 on a Macbook pro OSX 10.5.8 for the past 6 - 8 months. Today the vm is stuck in a state which says 'windows is shutting down...'. I cant get it to reboot. Any ideas how to get the vm out of this state?

Well, I just switched to an old snapshot I had and now the vm is usable. but I lost some drum project I had invested a few hours in. Not too bad.

Yep. That's about the only way to rectify a "stuck" or error prone VM. Lucky for you that you had a snapshot. Without a recent snapshot you would have lost everything. BTW, you might want to upgrade to the latest version of Fusion. Latest is 3.X. You can upgrade for $39.99 since you're running version 2.X.

I had this problem on linux once. There should've been a lck file in the folder where the VM was stored and if you delete it the VM should be usable if it happens again...
