Watch .avi on quicktime?

im trying to watch an .avi on quicktime, but it says "it is not a file quicktime understands" is there a codec i need? thanks

Yes, there is a bundle on a few p2p clients that I have used for awhile. PM me and I'll email it to you...It'll play basically any video file in quicktime.

Do you have the DivX codec? That'll probably do the trick.

Did you... System Preferences>QuickTime>
Plug In> MIME Settings> Video> check Video for Windows AVI File ???
