Hello All,

Just sold my MacBook Pro (to heavy, travel a lot) and am going to buy a MacBook Air. Some of the questions I need help with are:

1.86 with the normal hard drive?

1.86 with the solid state hard drive?

2.13 with the solid state hard drive?

Can I really see a speed difference between the 1.86 and 2.13?
Noticeable speed difference between the normal SATA hard drive and the solid state? Problems breaking more with a solid state?
They all come with 2 gb of ram, can it be upgraded to 4 gb? I don't think so.

Thank you from the new guy.

Myself for the 300 dollars difference i would go with the 2.13 since it has the solid state drive and i dont believe ram can be upgraded.

If weight is a issue for you. Why not try the 13" MBP, it only weighs 4.5lb which is 1.5lb heavier than the MBA. You can spend the money you save to buy a SSD.

I have a 13" MBP that i take to my classes and its perfect. It doesn't feel heavy and its upgradeable.

Pros and cons of 13" MBP over MBA.

PROS:
More Ports(2 USB, 1 FW 800)
SD Card Slot
Upgradeable Ram
Faster CPU
SuperDrive
7 Hour Battery Life vs 5 for MBA

Cons:

Heavier 4.5 for MBP vs 3lb MBA
Thicker 2.41cm MBP vs 1.94cm MBA

In the end its up to you though. If portability is the main factor that matters to you then the MBA is your best choice.

Had the Macbook Pro 15 inch. I am an airline pilot and pack for anywhere between 4-5 days at a pop. Belive it or not the 5.5 pounds makes it heavy. I weighed my bag once and the thing was over 70 lbs. My Macbook air should be here tomorrow, I guess I should get rid of some of my hair products:D thank you for your replys.
