I have noticed that lately, after I got my new battery from Apple, (it malfunctioned and I got a new one under warranty), that my power adapter has gotten louder and louder with its buzzing noise. I told Apple about it before I received the new battery, and they said that it was normal, but I don't think it's normal anymore. What can I do about it?

I have three of them. None of them buzz. At all. Not even in complete ambient silence.

To me that says you've got a failing transformer. But I'm not an electrical engineer. I would politely ask that they replace it.

I'm way out of warranty by now, do you think they will still give me one? If i say that i was due to the new battery or something?

I doubt it. But if you reported the issue during the warranty period, maybe. But you will need to point that out when you plead your case.

Would they keep that on file that I mentioned the noise of the adapter, and I could say I said that before?

I checked the 2 I have they are dead silent I would take the power supply to the Apple Store and let them hear it since you already noted it on an earlier claim.

I just arranged for Apple to call me a little later, so I'll post back about the verdict.

I'm not sure if they keep records of the reported problems, but I would still make it clear that you had reported the problem within the warranty period and that you have confirmed with friends that their power supplies are silent.

I find that being uber-friendly, patient and even-toned works wonders with Apple. I have had them replace batteries for me on three different occasions under somewhat dubious circumstances (but within warranty). Each time, I pleaded my case carefully and politely, with lots of "thank yous" and I found that the reps on the phone were very happy to help.

I just got off the phone with them, and they're going to send me one out. They actually did record that I mentioned that problem, so i'm covered. Now I just have to wait until I get back home then I get to have the order come through.

Excellent. Cheers to Apple customer service, once again they come through where other companies probably wouldn't.
