How to format a CD-R to burn folders on?

Finder > File > New Burn Folder. Put your folders in there and click Burn.

Macbook Unibody 2.26 Dual, 2GB RAM, 250 GB HDD
I think the problem is that I cannot compress my stuff small enough to fit on a CD haha.
