Do I need to find a virus scanner?

Hey guys, I just got my new imac last week and I am planning on putting some software on there. Now, since some of the software may be... "questionable", should I be worried about getting a virus? Or do mac viruses still not really exist?

Let me tell you as other will as well. No need for anti-virus programs. I found out the hard way. I paid close to 70.00 for a Intego anti virus program and really, it has nothing to find. Save your money.

Don't do that and you should be fine. You should know that there are trojans in pirated software.

While there is no need for one, there is a free one called ClamXav. They offer a version 1.1.1 for Mac OSX 10.4-10.5. If you want one for 10.6, check out their version 2.0 beta.

You should only worry about being questioned.

Alright alright, thanks guys. By the way, by questionable, I didn't necessarily mean pirated. I just tend to find myself downloading third party apps from shady places without thinking about it.
