Hi all,

Since a week ago I have been unable to sync my t-mobile iPhone (3GS, v 3.0.1) to iTunes (v 9.0.1). I get an error message that reads:

"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported."

I have never had this message before. I tried a few things I found online but none worked.

Does anyone have any solutions?

Thanks in advance.

I presume the iPhone was unlocked for you to use it on T-Mobile in the US, if so, was it a hardware or software unlock? If the latter then the latest update might have a check and prevent this. If it's a hardware unlock, you probably would've never seen that message..

Regards

Rimmer-- Where I live the iPhone is not officially sanctioned by t-mobile.

Raz0rEdge-- Thanks for your suggestion. I unlocked it with software. By the latest update do you mean the latest unlock/jailbreak software?

It sounds like iTunes has detected a Tmobile sim card. Like Razor said it was most likely the itunes update that caused this. You can try downgrading to an older version of iTunes.

Aha, problem solved! I put a friend's AT&T sim card in my iPhone and everything synced without a hitch.

I ran into this problem trying to sync my Sonera branded iPhone. I got it from Finland and had it carrier unlocked there via Apple's Finland support. I bring it back here and all of a sudden I can't sync a legit legally unlocked iphone? Apple customer service won't do anything about it because it's a Finn based phone. Whatever.

An easier way when this happens next time is just to turn off your iphone take out the sim and put it back in and let it boot up , then reconnect to itunes. The only time this happens is when tmob is upgrading towers. It happens to me once every 2 or 3 months.
