Seen a few articles on how to do this in as late as 10.4 but I am on 10.6.2, and although I would guess it works the same way, wondered if anyone knew specifically how to do it on the 10.6 system. Thanks in advance.

Open terminal, copy and paste the following:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES

(edit: oh,and make sure you press enter after you paste it)

Log out and back in.

Open Dashboard. Grab the widget you want on the desktop and start dragging it. While you're dragging, close Dashboard.

To put it back you must do the same, that is start dragging the widget and open Dashboard.

It takes a little practice to not feel convoluted.

Bob-
That's essentially what I had seen for earlier versions of OS, but as I am an 8 day old Mac baby, I am pretty much scared to do anything without some concurrence. Many, many thanks!

Not a problem. It's usually safer to let those willing to test things out and confirm they work in a newer OS.
