My Macbook Pro is currently running Snow Leopard, the person who upgraded it from OS X 10.5 to Snow Leopard 10.6 with their own disk has stolen info off my mac. Also a new user has appeared at login called 'other'. My login has admin rights but I can't find a way to get rid of this other account. It appears that it might be a root-user account but I don't know how to tell.

I want to completely wipe my hard drive and reinstall OS X 10.5.

I have repeatedly followed the install instructions by inserting the OS X disc, restarting whilst holding down the C key and nothing happens. The screen remains a blank gray colour.
Could this have something to do with the 'other' user account?

Please help.:(

Hold down the option key instead of the C key.
