I have a refurb MBP 15.4" with the Hitachi HTS543225L9SA02.
I am considering upgrading to a bigger drive, possibly a 500GB. But, I would like to know all the tech specs on the Hitachi before I upgrade. I don't want to accidentally get a slower drive.
One drive I'm looking at (from Newegg) is the WD Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT. I confirmed it is the 9.5mm height per WD's site.
I like WD. For the past 12 years I had very good luck with WD drives. A few years ago they respected the warranty on a drive despite it being one month out of warranty per the purchase date. But it seems they're more expensive.
There's also the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9500420AS a 7,200rpm drive also confirmed to be 9.5mm per Seagate's site.
Both are around the $90 range.
Other questions are, will I see a reduction in battery life with a 7,200rpm drive?
I'm torn.
