Start Up Problem

Hi All, need a bit of help thanks. I have an imac G5 running OSX 10.4.11.
Recently, I can't put the computer to sleep and the computer does not start up sometimes when powered on.
I ran disk utility and verified the disk, it stopped and gave this report;

Can you help please :Confused:
And is this my problem turning on the computer???

Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.

Volume Bit Map needs minor repair

Try running Disk Utility from Applications > Utilities and do Repair permissions. If u have Onyx use that for Repair Permissions. If that does not sort it download and install this.

MacMini 14.3, 8.1 & 4.1, OS 13.5, 10.14, & 10.11 & 10.6; Macbook Pro 8.2, OS 10.12.
I would add that if Collin's suggestions don't remedy the situation, then you need to boot your G5 from the original OS Disk 1 that came with it, and effect repairs therefrom. Failing that, a full retail version of Tiger will do the job.

Reason? The internal OS Disk Utilities cannot repair a startup volume, namely your Mac HD.

Thanks I'll try that. If I update Tiger as Collin's suggests do i lose any files on the HD

No that link just reinstalls OS where needed over the top of what is there. Your User files remain.
