I use Mail with my Gmail account, and love it. However, I notice if I delete All Messages (because I have my own system), Gmail online keeps it and they all reload to my local Mail. Is there a way or a setting to prevent this? Thanks!

I use hotmail with Mail and I've noticed that if I go online and look at my email on hotmail.com that it is all still there unread. However, I'm fortunate enough not to be experiencing your problem of re-sending it to your Mail inbox. How odd... or maybe hotmail is the odd one??? \:

Are you using POP3 access or IMAP?

go to gmail online and access your account settings and you will find that you can change it there. Sorry not sure of exactly where.

I use IMAP this way what ever i do to my mail with my iPhone or mac or online at gmail it is always synced and the same at each place. The one thing to beaware of is that once you delete it for good in one place it is GONE

Go to Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Account Type

It will tell you if it is IMAP or POP3. I prefer IMAP too.

I used to have a similar problem with the mail, when I switch to a new mail program. It would download all mail into the program but when I open a different program for mail they are unavailable.

There should be an option in mail account setting that goes something like 'keep my mail available in server until I delete it' check or uncheck the box depend on your preference. If you don't check it, mail will not be kept in the server to be available for access but download into your mail handler directly for storage.

Hope this helps.
