the new iTunes update 9.3 or whatever it is, the latest one, erased my custom icon, wrote over it with a new stupid looking CD with a hole in the middle (old default itunes logo, yeehaw), and now won't let me change the icon back to my delightfully simple one I had in its place. Can't do with Micon or anything else.

Anyone have this problem? Better yet, anyone else figure out how to solve the issue?

You should be able to replace the iTunes.icns file yourself inside the iTunes package, found in Contents/Resources. Just be sure to replace it with a proper .icns file. These usually have the icon art in multiple resolutions.

If you need to make an icns file, you can use img2icns. I use it and it works like a charm.
