I got a kick out of this when I read it, so I thought I'd share it with all of you. This is quote from an article on the Xbox 360 in the May 23, 2005 issue of Time magazine. It concerns the physical appearance of the new console:

It definitely wasn't from planet Microsoft. "We knew we had finalized it when the research came back from Japan," Moore (V.P. in charge of marketing the new Xbox) says. "We asked people, Who do you think designed this? And they said, 'This has to be from either Sony or Apple.' That was the seminal moment."

Looks like Microsoft isn't very proud of the appearance that is normally associated with its products, and once again, Apple is looked upon as one of the true leaders in style and aesthetics.

Well... Microsoft doesn't make much hardware except for some keyboards and mouses, wich by the way are very ergonomic and well designed. It is true that the new Xbox is quite different from the previous one, compare a black shoe box with a sleek white console, even though i don't like it i have to admit it is an impressive design, even more considering the specs.

I agree, especially since a new discussion around the new xbox 360 is support of 3rd party electronics, specifically, the ipod.:mac:
