Thought i'd try posting this question here for a bit more feedback. I have a G4 1.42GHz w/ 1.5GB RAM. Im currently running leopard 10.5.8 and I've been told that my system will run much quicker if I switch back to the older Tiger OS. If I were to do this, do I just run the tiger re-install cd's and will that automatically overwrite the leopard OS? I was also wondering if I'd loose any data (itunes, photos, docs...etc). Thanks!

Tiger might run a bit faster, but Leopard is a more advanced OS. Rolling back would run the risk of shutting yourself off from a lot of software choices that require Leopard or higher. Actually, with as much RAM as you have, Leopard might be the faster one for you. Read this article:

Stay with Leopard on your high end G4, in fact the very last model released.

Excellent link! Thank you very much sir...

And one last question for you guys. When I bought the G4 the guy i got it from did a clean install w/ Leopard but didn't give the the install cd for it (only the original tiger os cd's). If I ever needed to, could I use my friends Leopard install cd from his MBP to re-install the the software onto mine?

Nope - the install CDs are machine specific. If they weren't, doing so would be illegal anyway.
