Just got a brand new replacement 2g iphone but in the meantime I had to buy a 3gs which I am keeping. The 2g still has my sim card. I've got no idea what that even is. If i sell the 2g phone do I leave the sim card in the phone? Sorry for the dumb question but I'm clueless and need some help. Thanks.:(

it is a subscriber identity module, its used to provide functionality to cell phones.

its not necessary to remove it, but it would not hurt to take it out anyway. since you have a replacement, the SIM in the one you ma want to sell has been deactivated

here is how to remove it

Removing SIM card prior to iPhone repair
