Are you sure you selected the correct HDMI input ? When I say input, I mean by switching the input selector either on the remote control or the tv its self. Also, are you using the MacBook Pro while the lid is closed ? If so, make sure that you plug the MacBook Pro into the mains (power) !

Check where you have the cable plugged in again vs the port you have selected for the input in the menu.

The late model Samsung's I have seen do not have a port labled HDMI/DVI 2 on the rear of the set.
They do have HDMI/DVI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3...

Even if you're sure you have it on the correct input, change it to each of the HDMI in turn leaving it on each one for 15 seconds or so.

The next step is to unplug everything and replug it all back in making sure the connections are tight - even though they look and feel good currently.

Have you tried moving your mouse off the screen of the Mac in all directions and onto the screen of the TV?

edit to add:
"after" the above, then try a different HDMI port on the TV. Preferably one you are already using with another device, so that you know it works.

Next step is to try a different adapter/cable and TV.

In this situation, where the Mac is recognizing a screen is attached and providing you with a window for adjusting the resolution of the 2nd screen but still no picture, my inclination would be faulty adapter/cable.

I'm having the same problem. I know there is some signal, because the option to have the 3rd HDMI port is active in the TV selection menu. Also, My MBP system preferences indicate 2 displays.

So, what am I doing wrong (beside being a Mac newb! LOL!)

Thanks for the help in advance!

Not sure if this matters but.. have you got the display preferences on the MBP set for mirroring ? And as Bob has wisely suggested, you should definitely shuffle through the tv's inputs as it might be the case that they're not sync'd.

Last suggestion.. Throw the Samy out the window and pick up an LG ! :) Love my LG LH3000 to death ! ;D

Get rid of the LG and go for a Panny plasma.

But, at least it's not a Samy.

Wow, forgot about this thread until I tried to connect again. I have an LG42PG20.

I do not get an image when using the HDMI adapter and input to the TV. The VGA works, but not the HDMI.

Thanks in advance!
