a friend recently bought some, made $10,000 in a week off his $1000 investment, then sold it for twice his profit, basically, 20 times his money in a month or so, I want to buy some apple stock when I have the money.

When did he buy it? I have owned it for 2 years and there has never been anywhere near that much % increase to make 10,000 in a week

this was like a few months ago, I believe around the time the ipod shuffle came out. I know nothing about stocks, so maybe that makes a difference, or the type of stocks, I don't know, are there types of stock?

There is only 1 apple stock Nasdaq : AAPL

Even if he spent 1,000 at the 52 week low the most profit he could make with the 2:1 split we just had in february is a little less than 7,000 (That's if he sold at the 52 week high)

I was tempted to sell before the split but decided to wait it out and see how the summer treats me

I was actually thinking about picking up some shares of it, but I think I might have waited a bit too long to jump on the mini / shuffle / tiger increases.

Tiger really has not done much. The Shuffle brought the biggest increases

I don't own too much pure stock. A mutual fund (which I honestly don't know what i'm a part of through that), mostly CDs, a moneymarket or two, some bonds (diversify diversify diversify). When I have cash to blow, I'll dump it in the stock market.

I've got apple, yum (Tricon Global Group, they own all the KFC, Pizza Hut, Pepsi all that stuff), johnson and johnson and time warner.

YUM has been 67% profit for me since I got it 3 years ago

we had some walmart from when my wife worked there, but we cashed it out a couple of years ago to pay for a vehicle repair. it was good while it lasted.

Yeah - I bought a 100 shares about 3 months prior to the split .... I could see a split coming based on the trending ----- now if it would just start working its way back up to around $60 --- only tech stock I own :p
