Can I log in as a different user without logging out?
I do not mean with "sudo" from the command line; I mean opening a new graphic desktop environment, switching from one user to the other with a key combination... like in Linux.

Thank you!

Once you have been into Sys Prefs/Accounts/Login Options and enable 'Fast User Switching' and have 2 accounts Open - then the Log out option is at the lower end of the Apple menu to get out of current User u are in.
