Isub not recognised

I have two old iMac G4 800Mhz machines running OS10.4.11. I picked up a SH iSub but can't get one of my machines (17") to recognise it. The preferences sound panel does not show the device and the system profiler also shows no device connected to the USB ports. My 15" machine on the other hand shows the device and it works perfectly. Any help appreciated.
