I'm new to this - obviously.
I just put 10.6 on my MacBook
I downloaded JTR to Desktop.
I know enough to cd in terminal to src as they say to do.
Then it starts getting confusing for me.
It says to use Make (i'm assuming its a command.
If I type that in or what's next: 'make clean system' or 'make clean generic' terminal says command not found.
I'm baffled and obviously don't know that much about terminal.
I must be stupid b/c I need step by step help
Any help anyone could give would be greatly apprecaited.

In order to compile/install source you need to install Developer Tools.
Also, if the install doesn't start with a ./configure, it's possible the source is a *nix only and will not compile on a Mac.
What exactly is JTR? And where did you get it?

JRT is John the Ripper

JTR is fairly common software, from my understanding.

There are instructions, however b/c of my lack of knowledge I need almost letter by letter instructions.

Sorry bout that.
