I have a G4 Powerbook, 17", 1Ghz, w/Superdrive and running OS 10.4. It's about 5 years old. It was running fine at my friends house but when I got home and tried to boot it..Nothing. No sound and a black screen. I left it plugged in for about 2 hours thinking it was the battery. It then got very hot and still will not start up.
Could it be an internal battery?...logic board??

Sounds more like a hard drive issue, as the heat is most likely from it being stuck spinning.
It could be that it got moved in transit.
Try booting from your install disc and running disk utility, to see if that will work, then report back.
