Rumors and speculation have been running rampant over the last 2 weeks on all the Mac rumor and news sites regarding the upcoming release of new iPods. One definite seems to be increased capacity with iPods starting at the 10 GB with a 20 and 40 GB model as well. There's also talk of price decreases of upto $100.00.

Think Secret is also reporting that

This update could be the last for the iPod before it undergoes a major revamp. Later this year, Apple will reportedly unveil the first radically new successor to the iPod, incorporating a feature set significantly different from today's.

Could this be the much fabled PDA/Toaster that's been rumored in the past...only time will tell

I think the iPod would have a color screen. There would possible be more software for the iPod. That would be my guess.

I've been waiting for the 40 gig model... But now I need an 80! :)

The price is mainly what keeps me away.

I would only use it in the car, and for that I can buy cheap CDs, or CD-Rs ( and re-use them ).

If you look at the current iPods now, there are 5, 10 and 20gb. If a 40gb were to become available then, the iPod line would most likely be 10, 20, and 40gb. Hopefully the 5gb iPod would have a new lower price (something like ~ $150.00).
