Weird virus?

What's up guys, I need some advice. So I have a MacBook pro and just today it has begun acting strange. Whenever I try typing the spot may move or switch around the position of the letter I'm typing. It may also randomly highlight what I am typing and delete it. This happens with and without me touching the mouse pad. There is a slight problem with the mouse pad, as it is slightly indented, but I have never had a problem with it before. I'm a concerned this all might be caused by a virus. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Is it a virus or the mouse pad?

Most likely the trackpad as there are no viruses for Mac OS X at the moment. There are a couple of trojans, but they don't make the machine behave this way (they are DNS redirectors which take you to pages that you didn't actually go to).

It's not that it necessarily switches pages it's that, as an example, I just tried typing and everything I wrote was just deleted. Like that could be because of the pad, this is really weird. And right there I was typing the word 'pad' and all of sudden I was typing where the word 'could' is. And then it just deleted everything again. Should I take it in or wait a few days to see what happens? What could I expect from a typical Mac virus?

1. You have been told there are NO Mac virii.

2. Try a reboot and run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.

3. Martians have taken control of your MB - much more likely than a virus.

OK, let me explain. There are no viruses, there are 2 Trojans. Trojans are undesirable programs that accompany seemingly desirable ones. One comes packaged with pirated software, the other is disguised as a video player on porn sites. If you haven't encountered either scenario and deliberately installed the software, you don't have either. The behavior exhibited is that if you try to go to a webpage, say, Google, it will take you elsewhere.

Also, if you're running 10.6, the OS will warn you vehemently if you try to install either one.

That sounds very much like a damaged trackpad where pressure is being inadvertantly applied to the button beneath the trackpad due to vibration in the wrist rest. I would definitely replace the touchpad.

There are no "typical" Mac viruses, since no viruses exist at the moment.

Slightly indented sounds like the TrackPad.

How long has the dent been in the trackpad.. Was this problem happening not long after the dent.... If not with the dent over time with the use you give it will inherently continue the damage where the dent is. It wouldnt take much once dented to put pressure on it and it get worse. I would be looking at getting a replacement trackpad.
