Hi,

When I type in for example "http ://perian.org/" it does not end up like this on the page. It ends up looking like this Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime components.

I want to be able to type a link into a post and have it appear as a url that when clicked on goes to the website indicated. I don't want it automatically changed to show the website's title on the post as a link. Is there a way to do this so I can get a linked url on the post and not a linked website title?

I am sure this is a feature of the Forums Software VBulletin. Not sure if that parameter can be changed or not. I really like seeing the name instead of the plain URL, but that is a personal preference.

http://www.perian.org

I went in and manually edited my URL and took off the bracket URL and ending URL off it and just left the http www part and this is what it does.

That is what you want right? Hope this helps if so.

Why not have both ?

It always good to see the plain URL as well it will help you detect malware sites somewhat easier.

Yes that is what I want. And I did what you said and played with it for like a few mins and finally got it appear that way. But I agree having an option to have it displayed either way would be nice.

Interesting. I've never noticed cause I always just type "this" or "Link" or a description of what I'm providing a link to. And then I make that word a hyperlink. Maybe I'm backwards. I dunno, it's just the way I've always done it. hmm....

The feature eliminates a step for you. Maybe you can get used to a new way.

I see what you mean - I just tried it.
I think I prefer my method, though. I like to choose what word is the link. *shrug* :Smirk:
