So before this happened, I went into system preferences>startup disc> and I selected restart with network volume. Now when I boot my computer, it starts up and does the welcoming apple noise then flashes a gray screen, quick to blank screen, then immediately to a gray screen with a small picture in the middle of a flashing globe picture on a white background. Sounds pretty confusing but my question is, how do I get my mac to start up again from the hard drive without being able to even access the desktop or settings?

Reboot, hold down OPTION key. Select MacIntosh HD to boot from. Once the system is up and running, go to System Preferences, Startup Disk, and select your MacIntosh HD as the startup choice.

Regards.
