Ghost dock icon for iCal when running

I upgraded my iMac 1GHz from 10.4 to 10.5. Now, when iCal is NOT running, its dock icon shows a plausible date rather than Jul 17 (nice!).

But when iCal IS running, the black day number floats over transparent space, with no calendar pad behind it.

Is this a bug or a feature?? Is it s'pos'd to look like that? (It's hard to read!)

Or has iCal somehow lost a needed icon? (and if so, how do I get it back?)

hmm well mine has the pad behind it. what version do you have? (go to ical -> about ical)
