Hey guys,
Sorry if i'm digging up old threads..

I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 And I recently upgraded my hard drive and restored from Time Machine and now Quick Look previews don't work!

I now just get a grey box around where the quick look preview should be!

Any help would be good!

Thanks
Dan

Try deleting the quicklook preference file.

Open up finder, head to your home folder - Library - Preferences - com.Apple.QuickLookDaemon.plist

move it to the desktop, log out and back in

If that doesn't do it, they don't work from where? Mail? Finder? Anywhere?
It doesn't work on any file type? jpeg, png, pdf, etc.

Hey Tried That today but couldn't find the plist file in the directory you said,
Searched it in spotlight and couldn't find it there either..

It just doesn't work at all, from finder, mail anywhere.. i'm considering a fresh install but i'm not sure if it annoys me enough to rebuild my machine over it..

Any suggestions would be good!
Thanks Dan

If you didn't find it you're looking in the wrong place.

Need to make sure you are looking in: MacIntosh HD / Users / your user account / Library;

not: MacIntosh HD / Library.

And, looking back to bobtomay's first post, go into Preferences in the above Library folder. The "your user account" he mentions is the icon of a little white "house", otherwise known as your Home Folder. Often, you'll see a ~ as a substitute for Users/YourHomeFolder since everyone's Home Folder goes by a name given to it by the User.

Yep, I was taking a shortcut. Good thinking.

Yeah, it's there. The OS puts it there. You don't have a choice. I guarantee that file is where bobtomay said it is. Look again. In Show View Options, check Arrange By Name, so it will be alphabetical.

Sorry that didn't help then. At this point, the only thing I would know to try is to reinstall the OS. I'd do Archive and Install to save other things to cannibalize as needed. Is it worth the hassle to you?
