What type of ram for a Mac g4

Hi, this is my first post, so hi to you all.

Ive just been converted from PC 2 Mac.

Absolutely enjoying the Mac. Wish i had made the convert much earlier.

Anyway i have a G4 1ghz 256mb ram running Tiger 10.4? I think.

I have some ram from my old pc lying around and just wondered if i can put it into my Mac? And if so how do i find out the maximum ram i can put in.

The Ram i have is 2x 512mb. 1 of these is DDR-400MHz and the other im not too sure about, i will try and find out if possible.
