This is quick question. May be I don't know about .plist file and somebody might throw some light on it.

In my Home>Library>Preferences folder there are bunch of .plist file. I guess those are main preference file for that applications. But there are some more files with some weird extension.

e.g com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.4YHtdr
com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.34DtFy .... etc etc

What are those? Are those the backup files for .plist file?

Have no idea what those files are. Move them to your desktop and leave them there for several days. If QuickTimeX works OK, I would just delete them.

BTW, QuickTimeX is the version installed by Snow Leopard.

Regards.

Thanks a lot chscag. I will try that.

I didn't see the point you are making here. I know .plist refers to the preferences associated with that program. I just used QuickTimeX as an example. There are many such files associated with other programs and that's why I was wondering.

Thank though!
