iBook sound problems

help! Tech problems!

Greetings!
The sound on my ibook just stopped-- and no-- the sound is not turned off. The correlating factior is that itunes won't "play" either. So no little sounds when i save and no music....and, my cat has been known to sit on my key board...

also-- just out of curiosity-- ever since I loaded panther onto my computer-- it shuts down word when ever it wants-- do any of you have that problem?

Try restarting and repairing permissions if that doesnt work post back and i can tell you some more things to do.
