My iMac keeps waking itself up after I set it to sleep. I have no idea why this is happening. I want to say it is because of the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard but I don't have any supporting evidence.

I checked the energy saver settings to allow sleep and allow HDDs to sleep, but my iMac still wakes. I don't use InsomniaX but do use Caffeine, but I never leave it on if I want my iMac to sleep.

Make sure you close firefox. If you leave it open when you sleep the iMac, firefox will wake it almost immediately

I don't use Firefox. I've noticed that when my iMac wakes, it shows that the keyboard has been connected/disconnected. This keeps happening even when I leave keyboard/mouse idle.

What happens if you go into Sys Prefs/Energy Saver and click on Restore defaults then go Command Option Eject key combo? Mine goes to sleep even with Caffeinne enabled if i use that key combo.

I'm willing to bet that this is likely the cause. Do you keep your bluetooth devices on? If so, that's probably the issue.

If I keep my BT mouse on when I put my Mac to sleep, it will wake up 2 seconds later.

oops, I actually do have 10.6.2. I forgot to update my Mac specs.

I do leave my BT devices on at all times, even after putting my Mac to sleep. Is there another way besides turning it on and off? Seems tedious if I momentarily use my computer, then set it hibernate.

I have the exact same problem you described...wakes up, displays that the keyboard or mouse lost connection.
Seems to be very intermittent...happens a few days in a row for a week...then disappears for 3-4 months.
Fresh batteries?, not sure but I could never nail down the problem.

I just noticed that my computer wakes itself up because the keyboard loses connection (turns off?). Battery levels at 35%. Its happening more frequently now.

mighty mouse wakes imac

Hi -
I have the same problem with bluetooth mighty mouse and iMac 2.2 (2008).
Can't put the machine into Sleep mode for more than 3 seconds.

This just started occurring - and intermittently- after a year and a half of pretty reasonable performance.

It persists through my recent upgrade to Snow Leopard.
If I use another (wired) mouse, problem goes away.
I've checked all the power settings, etc.

A bit tedious, really, not having Sleep mode.
