my father and I are both really into Digital Photography and Video editing and we were thinking about getting a mac pro. The question is can a 27 inch mac pro do just the same? We would be using Adobe's CS and Final Cut Studio or Final Cut Express. How long do you think a macpro would last us? It seems like it will last a long time but the price tag is really making me skeptical

For photo and simple video editing, an iMac should be sufficient.

MacPro (as opposed to iMac) is made with enough power to handle CPU-intensive design-applications and is suitable for gaming too. With the proper software installed, you can even use it as a server.

The Mac Pro will definetly last you a while and it will be able to handle everything you want to do with it. The quad core iMac will also be very sufficient and would also do everyhting you want without a problem.

Please be careful with terminology...there's no 27 inch Mac Pro.

Mac Pro (on left)...27 Inch iMac (on right):

Hey Nick: I have to ask.... Do you really have 25 Macs? What do you do with all those machines?

And, a Happy New Year to you.

Regards.

And OP if you are both really into this as you say, go with the Mac Pro which is much,. much easier to do updates with such as additional memory, HDD, replacement optical drives etc. Alas you will also be in the market for a display.
