HAHA love Talladega Nights :)

When photbooth is open can you see yourself in the picture frame ???

When its open goto Camera in the Menu Bar and make sure Built-in iSight is checked.
By default im sure it should be though

Hmm so then the green indicator light isnt on near the iSight then ..
Have you done a Repair Disk Permissions ??
HERE is a link to Apples Troubleshooting iSight .. It covers most things ... Easier than writing them all here

Cheers

Photobooth is really fun but the background needs to contrast with the clothing your wearing and especially your hair color.

Dark hair requires a white background and blond hair requires a dark background.

Make sure your clothing is in complete contrast to the background color also.

Illuminate your face with a light if you can (the flash from the screen isnt enough) and if it's a white background illuminate that as well

To do it right you have to create a mini studio.

Just my 2 cents so that you dont get too frustrated with it.

My problem solved

My camera had been working in Skype. Next it wasn't working - wasn't even there. Photo Booth said no camera. Profile said no camera. Tried logging out. Tried shutting down. Still no camera.

Then I read
HERE is a link to Apples Troubleshooting iSight .. It covers most things ... Easier than writing them all here

On Apple's page I followed the instructions for "Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)".

End of problem!

Thanks, pUnK0311.

After upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite yesterday apps that use the built-in camera of my MacBook Pro would not recognise the camera existed. I can confirm that following your advice restored normality. Cheers! :)
