• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I haven't purchased from them but here is one thing to consider. There is a legal version of Final Cut Studio out on sites like eBay at the moment that is not eligible for future upgrades. Now I am not suggesting that the retailers are being misleading merely that Apple has said that these Not for Resale versions can't be upgraded. Final Cut Studio (2009): FAQ

You're welcome. I've been looking for a cheaper source for that bundle myself. I thought I would need it for a project. I did see several vendors on eBay a few weeks ago that had it for between $500 - $600. That's still a bit out of my budget.

A lot of times those are also Educational versions or previous editions (ie: people liquidating FCS2) which are cheaper then the full version (and has no upgrade path), of course, Apple right now has made pricing so it's real attractive to just get FCS3 (FCS brand new, non-upgrade $999, educational version only a $100 discount. Now if you can get a killer deal on an unopened full retail FCS2, then the FCS3 upgrade is only $299...)
