I have searched this forum, and google, but i can't seem to find an answer.

I put a disk in the drive, it hums (quite loud, kinda clunky sounding) then the disk gets spat out. sometimes it takes 30 seconds, other times it happens in less then 5.

All i want to do is put my music + dvd's on my ipod.

I have a MacBook Pro, it was bought just before christmas, and the drive worked fine right off the bat.

So, please be gentle, I am not only new here, but new to macs all together.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if its in the wrong forum

(is the disk drive called a "superdrive"?)

Way... way too many specs to list.
are they, by chance, scratched?

Did you try a cleaner cd? If you did, then apple is probably your best bet; most superdrive issues can only be fixed by them.

You are still in warranty, return it to Apple immediately, and being so new they should replace the entire machine straight away. Don't accept a repair.
There have been a few issues with Superdrives recently.
