how do i transfer everything from old , dead logic board imac to new imac? ... without taking it to an apple store and getting it a week later?

G'day and welcome to the forums.
Remove the hard drive, pop it in an external case, connect via USB2 opr Firewire and see if the drive is recognised on the desktop, or in Disk Utility. Depending on the model iMac, can be a real teaser. Now you have your new iMac, still get an external HDD as without backups, you will lose more of your files and folders for sure.
