Hello all, I have a 120gb HDD macbook with 1gb of RAM.

It's slow as all ****, so I want to get more RAM. I'm also nearly out of HDD space.

The Macbook is about 2.5~ years old, and I remember that it was expandable to 2gb of RAM (I think...), so what is my best bet here? 2x1gb sticks or would 2x2gb work (as I've read a little saying it will recognize 3gb?)

For the HDD I think I need a 2.5inch SATA, and I just take mine out and pop the new one in, correct? Will the new HDD come with a casing or do I need to re-use anything from the factory one?

Thanks for the help guys, I've never done any of this stuff, except for 10 minutes ago when I took out my RAM and HDD.

Your Mac's Specs
MBP 2.3 Ghz 4GB RAM 860 GB SSD, iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 32GB RAM, Fusion Drive 1TB
It's best to use matching pairs for the RAM.

For your HDD it just needs to be 2.5" width, 9.5mm height SATA. You need to use screw drivers to remove the old one from the cradle, and replace it with the new HDD.

Adding to OWC i followed harryb and his advice and never went wrong with OWC...
They also have tutorials and instructions on the safest way to change RAM and HD's

Thanks a bunch guys. I live in Canada so hopefully shipping isn't too much, but now I know some prices.

The macbook I have was native with Tiger BTW, so it's old. Pretty sure it said it's only expandable to 2gb so I am just going to get 2x1gb for now.

Just an update if anyone reads this in the future:

I installed 2x1gb sticks from another macbook and put my 2x512mb's in that one (my sister doesnt do more than facebook, lol) and bought a hitatchi 500gb@5400rpm hdd. I'm copying files from my time machine backup over now. It's been "preparing to copy" for a long time now, but I do have aprox. 100gb. I used Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup on another hdd and am running off of that currently, while copying files from the other external hdd to the new internal.
